Teaching Philosophy

When reflecting on my teaching a learning journey so far, my perception of learning includes making an inclusive, warm and safe environment for students. This can help facilitate great learning experiences for every student because students learn best when they feel safe and supported. My role in the classroom is to make sure I give students this kind of learning environment. Giving support and paying attention to every student is so important as an educator. Paying attention to every student's needs and learning abilities can help inform the teaching-learning-cycle which aids the teacher in creating lesson plans and activities in order to tailor to every student's needs and ability levels. During learning, my students will experience fun activities and lessons integrated into the required curriculum to make learning fun and engaging. Based on my student’s needs and abilities, I will tailor instruction when necessary; following the required curriculum does not mean that everything has to be set in stone. I hope my students develop a love for learning as I have and I hope they learn how to build meaningful connections with others and gain important knowledge to support developmental milestones. In my classroom, my students will learn compassion and how to treat everyone equally, just as they are. Developing an appreciation for differences and diversity is an important goal for me to teach my students because that is a skill that goes beyond the classroom. My students will learn to be capable, compassionate, strong, and kind humans, along with much more. Adapting to challenges can be an everyday occurrence for educators and I will be flexible and patient with my students as I know they are learning and growing. Making sure every student gets the most out of my support and teaching is so important to me because I love to see their knowledge and development grow. Being present and constantly observing can help inform my teaching practices and let me know if my students are grasping the concepts I am teaching or not. If not, my knowledge of the teaching-learning-cycle can help me adapt my teaching strategies and the way I deliver content to my students.
